State Testing starts for our 3rd Grade on TUESDAY! Testing starts for 4th-8th Grades on THURSDAY!...
We've been seeing and hearing lots of test prep going on these last few weeks. Our teachers are ready, our students are ready - Parents Are You Ready?!
Testing can be a stressful time and your help at home can make test days successful for everyone. The following suggestions can help your child prepare for a stress free test day.
1. Make sure your child gets at least 9 to 10 hours of sleep.
2. No screen time (including TV) at least one hour before bed.
3. Have clothes, backpack, etc ready the night before.
4. Wake up 30 minutes earlier than normal. More time to get ready = less stress
5. Be positive with your student on the way to school. Try to stay away from saying things like "don't worry" - and instead focus on creating confidence and control over any anxiety they might be feeling.
6. Make sure that your student dresses in comfortable clothing and takes a sweater or long sleeve shirt just in case the room is cool.
7. DO NOT SEND CELL PHONES OR SMART WATCHES WITH YOUR STUDENT ON TEST DAYS. Parents - please know that if a student has a cell phone or smart watch in the testing room, that this will invalidate the test and everyone in the room will have to take the entire test over again. Please help us to make sure that this doesn't happen and don't send cell phones or smart watches on test days.
8. Arrive early to school. Testing starts at 8:15 a.m. If your child arrives late - they will likely have to reschedule their test and take it on another day.
9. Wish them well!
Feel free to contact the District Test Coordinator (Diane Weston) or your child's teacher with any questions.
